BRIDAL BOUTIQUE: DEBBIE, SOMERSET BRIDAL

Tell us about yourself and what you do.

I'm the owner of Somerset Bridal, passionate about size inclusivity in the bridal industry.

What inspired you to be involved in this campaign shoot?

The wide and diverse range of the models involved.

What is your favourite thing about working in the wedding industry?

Seeing my nervous, shaking brides transform and enjoy their experience as they realise we'll have dresses that actually fit!

What is your proudest achievement?

Going from zero knowledge about the bridal industry donkey's years ago, to having the skills I possess now, to understand women and their fears.

Which women inspire you the most and why?

My mum is the most amazing woman ever - she is ferocious, kind and always there.

This year’s International Women’s Day 2024 theme is #InspireInclusion. What does this mean to you?

One of the things that sets Somerset Bridal apart is our understanding of the female form and we are passionate about inclusion. We believe that everybody should be accepted whether you love your body or not. Not everyone can feel positive about themselves when they look in the mirror, and this can cause great anxiety at the thought of wedding dress shopping. We encourage our brides to accept their body from a position of neutrality. We will help them find a dress that makes them feel confident and radiant as they walk down the aisle. We only work with a diverse group of suppliers who must show a commitment to an inclusive attitude.

Becka really understands the bridal industry and recognises the importance of working with suppliers, who are fun but most importantly resonate with her own mission. She is super friendly and supremely organised!
