ARTIST: CASSIE, CORNWALL CARICATURES

Tell us about yourself and what you do.

I am a live event caricaturist and have been drawing at weddings across Cornwall and Devon for nearly nine years. I absolutely love bringing the fun factor to weddings, spreading the good vibes and watching guests laugh with joy, as they see their portrait come to life in front of them in just minutes.

What inspired you to be involved in this campaign shoot?

For me, caricature is about embracing and celebrating our features - loving who we are and laughing at what makes us unique. Caricature doesn’t need to be mean or grotesque - my business is about bringing joy and celebrating every individual, which aligns perfectly with the campaign.

What is your favourite thing about working in the wedding industry?

I just adore being part of people’s special day and being responsible for creating such joy, laughter and setting the tone for the day. Weddings are full of so much formality, so I like to break the ice and bring some fun into the celebrations!

What is your proudest achievement?

It has to be calling Amazon, Pirate FM and Plymouth Argyle my clients! I’ve been lucky to work for some amazing corporate clients over the years.

Which women inspire you the most and why?

In business, I love Francesca Amber, Denise DT, and Anita Aguilar. But my biggest female inspiration is my five year old daughter - I love to watch her shine, celebrate her uniqueness and support her to be her authentic self. I don’t want her to ever feel like she can’t be true to herself in this world. She knows she is loved and can do anything she sets her mind to!

This year’s International Women’s Day 2024 theme is #InspireInclusion. What does this mean to you?

We all have our own quirks and barriers that have hindered us in life - I have definitely felt that I wasn’t included in different situations due to who I was, but in 2024 there is a different narrative and I want to be a part of embracing that. I am so passionate about making sure women feel they have a seat at any table.
