LYDIA

Tell us about yourself.

My name is Lydia, owner of Lydia Bailys and Company where we specialise in Children’s Entertainment. I am a mum to one beautiful boy and have a beautiful baby girl on the way! I love Disney, dogs and days with the family.

What inspired you to be involved in this campaign shoot?

As a young female company owner, fighting to be seen and heard and respected in a world run by men has been a challenge. I am passionate about creating an environment for my performers where every single one of them feels heard, safe, appreciated and beautiful in their own skin. This shoot embodied those things for me!

What is your proudest achievement?

Definitely setting up my business! I started it at the age of 22 and it is the best thing I have ever done. It has enabled me to be a mum who spends a lot of time with her children, and a boss to young women that I wish I had when I was starting out into the professional world.

Which women inspire you the most and why?

Fellow young, female business entrepreneurs in my industry who stand for the same things I do! Shannon, Kim, Tilly, Stef and Natasha just to name a few, but there are many more!

This year’s International Women’s Day 2024 theme is #InspireInclusion. What does this mean to you?

As someone who is plus sized, disabled and neuro-divergent, fitting into certain scenarios or environments has always been a challenge. You don’t realise how ableist the world around you is until you are unable to access amenities which are easily accessible to others.

The photoshoot was full of positivity and fun the moment we entered the room.

It was relaxed, supportive and I think we all felt beautiful and confident in our own skins.
